I am in Maui tonight, and Jon Mizukami came in for dinner at Amasia.  I am very proud of him and his accomplishments. He has risen to the rank of sous chef at the French Laundry Restaurant and was once a cook at Alan Wong's Honolulu.  He has been at the Laundry now for eight years.  I remember him wanting to go to the Laundry while he was still a cook with us and we talked about it.  I am happy that he has worked very hard to give himself opportunities and a future that is very promising.  He is from Maui, so he is home for a week.  It is so good to see him and his success.
