We are on our way to Taste of the Nation Hawaii -- No Kid Goes Hungry event tonite. We will be serving 100 people in the VIP tent , featuring Alex Franco from Maui Cattle Co and his Roast Striploin. Along with that will be Otsuji Farm's Kabu in Miso, Kale and Chard, Ho Farms Tomatoes with Big Island Dairy Goat Cheese with Vanilla Crack Seed Coulis, Hamakua Mushrooms, Sumida Watercress and Honda Tofu. Michelle will be there serving her Pineapple Shave Ice and Mark will be there pouring a couple of his cocktails.
What got me involved in this event as honorary co-chair was simply hearing that one out of four kids in Hawaii do not know where their next hot meal is coming from as well as listening to the fact that a kid who goes to school hungry will not do well in school. I know the VIP tent is sold out but maybe there are a few more tickets left. There will be a total of seventeen chefs cooking tonite, all paired with farmers.
