“Terroir. To me it means taste the land. Come meet the farmer.” — Alan Wong

Alan Wong’s Restaurants embraces Hawaii’s farmers and agriculture, striving to use as much locally, organically grown product as possible. Chef Wong and his staff have been meeting with farmers (now friends) well before the restaurant’s start and have come to appreciate and value each farmer’s philosophy and passion for the land and what they grow and raise.

“When I visit the farms in person, I get to walk among the goats. I get to roam between tomato vines and pick and eat at will. I get to talk with the growers and discuss the product. I get to see the “terroir”— feel the soil, experience the climate, the environment, in which it grows. This is not only grounding, but also the best way to appreciate what the farmers do. The best way to appreciate the food that we cook with.”(AW)  >>

If you cannot go the farm, the next best thing, is to bring the farm to the table — to create a gathering place where farmers, chefs & staff, and guests can casually talk story, share and eat! This is the Farmer Series Dinner!

Once a quarter we prepare a special menu featuring different local farmers and ranchers. In bringing the farm-to-the-table we hope to bring greater awareness to our staff and guests. We invite you to meet them, ask questions and understand where your food comes from, how it is grown and who grows it. With side-by-side comparisons and creative menu selections, we hope that you taste the difference and gain a renewed appreciation and enthusiasm for Hawaii’s farmers. And in turn, make better choices for your family and consider buying local on your next trip to the grocery store.

Join us for the next “taste test” at our upcoming Farmer Series Dinner!  pau
