Kathy was born in Alabama, raised for 10 years in California, then moved to Hawaii in 1972. She is a graduate of Kaiser High School and received a degree in Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Kathy’s career in the food and beverage industry began at Zippy’s, just a block away from Alan Wong’s Restaurant on King Street. Although she attempted careers in other fields, she made a fateful decision to return to the hospitality industry as a hostess at Hoku’s at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hotel and progressed to the position of assistant manager at the Plumeria Beach Café. She learned that she loved the excitement of working in the industry as each day brought new guests, new experiences and new friendships.
In 2002, Kathy joined the Alan Wong’s ‘ohana as a restaurant manager, and was promoted to General Manager in 2008. pau
