I worked at Zippy’s, hostess at Hoku’s at The Kahala Hotel, and managed Plumeria Beach Café

Now:

I became the Director of Restaurant Operations in 2013 from being the General Manager at Alan Wong’s Honolulu since 2008, and a restaurant manager since 2002.

What keeps you in the food & beverage industry?

The excitement and rush of knowing that each day will be different. I tried to do office work once and didn’t like that, I wasn’t able to get out and meet new people and do different things. In my job, I get to meet people from all over the world and help to create a dining experience that may make memories to last a lifetime.

If you could invite anyone in the world to have dinner with you, who would it be? Where or what would you eat?

My two sons. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I am not always able to spend as much time with them as I would like to.

 

The one thing that has helped me in my career is the Wongism, “if you are hungry, you’ll get fed.” Stay hungry for the opportunity to learn more, travel more, see more and do more and you will always put yourself on the path of success.
