Joined the AWR Ohana: 2007
Graduated in: Culinary Arts, Communications
I worked at several restaurants and at Starbucks in the Seattle Area before returning to Hawaii, where I was a part of the closing crew of Palomino’s in Harbor Court. I originally applied to cook at the Pineapple Room, but my experience led me to AWR Holdings, where I used to be the Culinary Facilitator, and am now the Marketing Manager.
What is the funnest part of your typical work day?
The people that I work with are the best part of my day. I am fortunate that I’ve found a place where my co-workers are also my friends and even my second-family. Every day there’s something that makes me laugh, and there’s always a lesson to be learned. Each person on the team has taught me something, and they continue to push me to be my best and grow along with them. No day is ever the same, and challenges are always present. But this team knows how to hold it together and push through, and that’s what keeps me coming to work day after day, year after year.
If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I could probably be labeled as a “carb-ivore.” I could live off pasta or noodles. There are so many different ways to prepare them, and I never get bored of eating it.
Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it. – Maya Angelou
