Every year, we come to Kauai to help the culinary department at Kauai Community College and Mark Oyama, raise funds for the program.  Mark and Wendy, his wife, used to work for me at the Mauna Lani in the Canoehouse Restaurant.  They even went to Connecticut to work for my old chef at Lutece from NYC, Christian Bertrand.  Whenever I land at the airport,  it almost feels like coming home, since I used to live and work here at the old Waiohai Resort.  I love this island. I had some great memories made here, and the people are special.  Coming every year to help Mark is something we all look forward to.
