We read books together as a management team and meet once a month, each time covering two chapters. The book we are currently reading is John Maxwell's 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. He has been a favorite of ours and we have read four of his books already. Today we covered chapters 16 and 17, The Law of the Big Mo (momentum) and The Law of Priorities.

I admit, it is a very unconventional way of covering a book and it's not really "taught." Rather, each person gets up and talks about their favorite passage and why. I facilitate a dialogue and we go on until everyone has had their opportunity to share. It has proven to be one of the fastest ways for the team to get to know each other. Everyone has a different viewpoint and resonates with something different.  Everyone discloses something about themselves in the process. In the end, we all walk away feeling positively charged with a better understanding of each other and having had a say in expressing our viewpoints. I believe everyone enjoyed today.
