A Taste of Hawaii is a tropical themed fundraising gala with a chic ambiance to benefit the Kurt Suzuki Family Foundation. MLB All-Star, Kurt Suzuki in partnership with celebrity chef, Alan Wong from the Food Network, will host an evening of fine culinary experiences and entertainment. A Taste of Hawaii will bring local celebrity chefs and various professional athletes together for an evening of first class entertainment. Alan Wong and four celebrity chefs will host their own gourmet food stations each paired with a Major League Baseball player or professional athlete to serve our guests. The evening will also include authentic Hawaiian entertainment, including music by Ikaika Blackburn.
A Taste of Hawaii charity event will help raise funds for the Nephrotic needs of rural areas within the Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu and the Big Island. Kidney disease is very prevalent in these areas along with a lack of basic supplies and teaching materials supporting the knowledge of prevention and maintenance of the disease. The monies raised will make a tremendous impact on the lives of those affected with Kidney disease. Kurt’s father Warren Suzuki, who is a stage 4 kidney cancer survivor and has been in remission for 6 years. A Taste of Hawaii charity event will also support NephCure, an organization that supports research to find the cause and cure of Nephrotic Syndrome, which effects Kurt’s sister-in-law, Tricia Vignery. NephCure also provides support and educational information for families dealing with one of the many forms of Nephrotic syndrome.
